A case has been filed against two ‘fake’ doctors under several sections of the IPC, including culpable homicide in the death of a Dalit lady who was allegedly given the improper injection, according to police and health department sources.

The woman was taken to a private hospital for birth. Her nine-month-old foetus in the womb also perished.

Sachidanand Pandey, in-charge of the Aurai police station, stated on Thursday that the two accused who are on the run are being searched.

Bhadohi Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Santosh Kumar Chak stated that Ankit Kannaujiya, a resident of Vikrampur under Aurai police station, filed a complaint saying that on April 23, he admitted his sister-in-law Anchal (23) to a private hospital for delivery.

Vinay Kumar Pandey and Shiv Bahadur Yadav, the doctors who performed the operation, demanded a ₹50,000 payment and delivered an injection that killed both Anchal and the foetus. Both doctors fled, claiming there was no oxygen.

The CMO stated that an investigation done by Additional Chief Medical Officer A K Maurya revealed that the hospital is not registered with the health department.

The CMO stated that both doctors’ degrees were also discovered to be fraudulent.

In addition, the postmortem report for the mother and the foetus found that they died as a result of an incorrect injection given to make them unconscious.

The in-charge of the Aurai police station stated that a case was filed against both the bogus doctors based on the CMO’s investigation report and the complaint of the victim woman’s brother-in-law, Ankit Kannaujiya.

He stated that both bogus doctors are fleeing the hospital and that efforts are underway to apprehend them.
