Renowned spiritual leader and founder of the Isha Foundation, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking urgent relief against the unauthorized use of his name, image, and voice by rogue websites and artificial intelligence tools.

The plea, presented before Justice Saurabh Banerjee, raises concerns over the commercial exploitation of Sadhguru’s persona through manipulated content created using AI technologies like deepfakes and voice cloning. The petition alleges that several unknown digital platforms are misusing his likeness to promote products and services, misleading the public and violating his personality rights.
Sadhguru’s legal team argued that his identity carries immense influence and is being targeted for unauthorized promotions under the guise of authenticity. “These misrepresentations are not only unethical but have the potential to damage the trust he holds with millions across the globe,” stated the counsel during the hearing.
The court acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations and issued notices to relevant parties, including certain web platforms believed to be involved in the unauthorized activities.
This legal move highlights growing concerns in India over AI-driven impersonation and the lack of comprehensive regulation in this space. The misuse of a public figure’s likeness through emerging technologies has sparked debate around the urgent need for digital rights protections, especially for influential personalities.
The case is expected to shape legal discourse on personality rights in the digital era, particularly regarding AI’s growing role in content creation and its potential for reputational harm. Further hearings are anticipated in the coming weeks.
