Chennai, June 14, 2025 — The State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) is set to revamp its online ticket reservation system with the introduction of Tatkal booking and integrated digital payment options. The Tamil Nadu Mobility and Logistics Corporation (TNMLC) has floated a tender to overhaul the current system and manage its operations for the next five years.

The revamped Online Ticket Reservation System (OTRS) will feature a cloud-based platform capable of handling 15,000 concurrent users. Key upgrades include real-time seat availability, multilingual support, and access via mobile apps, websites, franchise centers, and rural kiosks.
A new Tatkal quota will be introduced for last-minute bookings, similar to the Indian Railways model. Digital payment options such as UPI, net banking, cards, and mobile wallets will also be supported to improve passenger convenience.
The move comes in response to increasing demand and digital adoption among passengers. Currently, SETC processes around 5.4 lakh bookings a month, generating revenue of ₹28.8 crore. The new system aims to streamline operations and expand digital access across Tamil Nadu.
