Dubai, A terrifying fire erupted late Friday night at the 67-storey Marina Pinnacle Tower in Dubai Marina, forcing the emergency evacuation of 3,820 residents, including families, children, and pets. Firefighters battled flames for over six hours before bringing the blaze under control in the early hours of Saturday.
The fire reportedly started on one of the upper floors around 9:30 PM, rapidly spreading through parts of the high-rise structure. Videos shared by eyewitnesses showed flames leaping from balconies and thick smoke billowing into the night sky.
Swift Emergency Response
Dubai Civil Defence responded with urgency, deploying multiple firefighting units from stations in Al Barsha, Al Marsa, and Jebel Ali. Evacuation began shortly after the fire was reported, with building security and police coordinating residents’ exit. Despite the scale of the incident, no fatalities or serious injuries were reported — a result praised as a testament to the city’s preparedness.
Some residents initially hesitated to leave, uncertain whether to evacuate or remain indoors. “We could smell the smoke, but the alarms were unclear. Later, security came door to door, asking us to evacuate immediately,” said a resident from the 42nd floor.
Tram Service Suspended
In a precautionary move, tram services between Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah stations were suspended for several hours to ensure emergency vehicles could access the site without delay. Roads in the surrounding area were cordoned off, and traffic was redirected to avoid congestion near the tower.
Residents Temporarily Displaced
Authorities confirmed that 764 apartments were impacted by the evacuation. Temporary shelter and hotel accommodations are being arranged for affected families by the building’s developer in coordination with Dubai’s municipal bodies.

While the fire has been extinguished and cooling operations are ongoing, the exact cause remains under investigation. Officials are currently examining possible sources, including electrical faults or flammable cladding materials.
The Marina Pinnacle Tower has experienced a previous fire incident in 2015, where a kitchen fire spread to higher floors. In light of this recurrence, building safety and maintenance protocols are expected to come under scrutiny.
