Judge Deshpande sentenced the defendants to 25 months of harsh imprisonment after finding them guilty of breaking the Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950, and section 14(A) of the Foreigners Act, 1946, in two separate sets of judgments.
Eight Bangladeshi women were found guilty on Monday of entering India illegally and given a 25-month term of rigorous imprisonment (RI) by a Navi Mumbai court. Additionally, they were fined Rs 11,000 apiece by Additional Sessions Judge KR Deshpande in Belapur.
According to the police, the Bangladeshi women, laborers, were taken into custody in December 2022 from Turbhe in Navi Mumbai for their illegal residence. They were the subject of two different first information reports or FIRs.

The accused individuals, who range in age from 24 to 44, were ordered by the sessions court to be deported to their native country upon completion of their term and if they were not needed in any other case.
Fourteen prosecution witnesses were questioned in the case to support the allegations against the accused, according to Additional Public Prosecutor EB Dhamal.
According to Dhamal, the court stated in the orders that the prosecution has proven each one of the accused individuals’ allegations beyond a reasonable doubt.
