On Wednesday, Sakshi Malik made public that she was listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world for 2024 by TIME magazine. She shared the link to the 2024 #TIME100 list on X and commented, “Proud to be included in the list.” Sakshi, the only female wrestler from India to win an Olympic medal, has received recognition for her unwavering defense of female wrestlers amid allegations of sexual harassment from former Wrestling Federation of India head Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
Together with two-time World Championship bronze medallist Vinesh Phogat and bronze medallist from the Tokyo Olympics Bajrang Punia, Sakshi led the demonstration against Singh at the Jantar Mantar here, calling for his arrest on charges of intimidating and reportedly abusing the nation’s female grapplers sexually.
Starting in January of last year, the demonstration evolved into a year-long campaign against Singh, gaining support and recognition both domestically and internationally.
Singh has a charge sheet against him, but he still refutes the accusations.

Following Sanjay Singh, a close assistant to Brij Bhushan, was elected president of the Wrestling Federation of India, Malik stated last year that he was leaving the wrestling industry.
