Hyderabad, February 17, 2024: A 30-year-old woman, Jeevika, was found dead at her home in Suraram, Hyderabad, in what police suspect to be a case of suicide due to domestic harassment. Authorities have taken her husband, Batta Abhilash, into custody following the incident.
Jeevika and Abhilash, married since 2019, have an 18-month-old son. Reports suggest that she was under immense pressure from her husband to sell her gold jewelry and inherited property to support his business plans. Sources indicate that the sentimental value of the land made her reluctant to comply, and the persistent pressure allegedly drove her to take this extreme step.
A note found at the scene reportedly pointed to the mental distress she faced. Acting on this, the police arrested Abhilash on charges of abetment to suicide, and further investigations are ongoing.
