PM Narendra Modi was in Hyderabad to speak at a Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi gathering.

Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had to pause his speech at a rally here on Saturday after noticing a young woman climbing a structure with lights installed in the Parade Grounds.

PM Modi was in town to speak at a conference sponsored by the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS), a community body of Madigas, one of the largest Scheduled Caste constituencies in Telugu states.

The prime minister repeatedly asked the young woman to come down, claiming that the quality of the electric lines seemed to be poor.

When she tried to explain things to PM Modi, he replied in Hindi, “Beta, I will listen to you.” Please come down and have a seat. It might short-circuit. This is not the case. I come to get you. It’s pointless to do such things.” K Laxman, a Rajya Sabha member who was interpreting the Prime Minister’s address, suggested that she do so in Telugu.

When approached about the event, a top police officer stated that they are investigating it. PM Modi consoled MRPS founder Krishna Madiga, who broke down in tears and hugged him at the start of his address.
