Union minister Smriti Irani held a “Jan Samwad” during her four-day tour to her parliamentary seat of Amethi, where she heard the complaints of the populace.
After hearing one instance, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development voiced her displeasure and chastised authorities for supposed incompetence.
Regarding an alleged land encroachment, Irani chastised an administrative officer in the Tikar Mafi locality of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, and instructed the SDM to have the land cleared in thirty minutes.
“Why wait till tomorrow? Kyu kal karna hai, abhi adhe ghante me karo warna mai khud baith jaunga? Smriti cautioned the revenue official about the purportedly sluggish progress of work, saying, “Do it within half an hour, or else I’ll personally stage a protest).”

Amethi was formerly a Congress stronghold till 2019, when Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha elections by a margin of about 55,000 votes.
Given that Sonia Gandhi also left Rae Bareli for the Rajya Sabha, the Congress is still unsure about Rahul Gandhi’s intentions to try to retake the Congress bastion.
Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge spoke at a mass gathering in Babuganj.
“We’ll spend the night in Amethi and go to Raebareli early the following day. Tomorrow we will be in Lucknow, and the following day we will be in Kanpur. Then, on February 22 and 23, we shall have two days off,” said Congressman Jairam Ramesh.
