Stars are arriving at the Met Gala 2024 donning their own takes on the theme of “The Garden of time,” as the red carpet finally opens. Co-host Zendaya appeared in a reworked Christian Dior 1999 collection outfit designed by John Galliano, while Kendall Jenner wore an archive Givenchy haute couture 1999 collection outfit designed by Alexander McQueen. With a plethora of well-known brands from around the world securing spots on the Met carpet, it’s certain that this year’s Indian participation on fashion’s biggest night of the year has been the strongest to date.

Here are all the Indian attendees of the Met Gala this year, ranging from budding talent Ambika Mod to Alia Bhatt.

  1. Natasha Poonawalla

The fashion industry’s favourite designer right now, John Galliano, created a unique Margiela for Natasha Poonawalla, who wore it to the 2024 Met Gala. Christian Louboutins with an extremely high platform completed the Indian heiress’s ensemble. Poonawalla previously made a big impression at the Met Gala in 2022 by dressing in an ensemble from Sabyasachi x Schiaparelli that flawlessly embodied the theme of “Gilded Glamour.” Few are able to convey the subject as masterfully as Natasha Poonawalla did in 2022 when she walked the Met Gala red carpet wearing a structured Schiaparelli bustier and a custom-designed golden sari by Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

  1. Mona Patel

At the 2024 Met Gala, Mona Patel, CEO of Forbes Next 1000 recipient, made her much-awaited debut wearing an off-the-shoulder, figure-hugging Iris van Herpen gown. Fluttering butterflies served as inspiration, paying homage to “The Garden of Time,” the dress code. Her outfit included marbled cloth adorned with Van Herpen’s trademark sculptures. The 3D butterflies that Patel wore on her sleeves, adding a whimsical touch to her ensemble, were the focal point of her evening wear.

  1. Alia Bhatt

At the 2024 Met Gala, Alia Bhatt donned a mint green Sabyasachi sari that she had custom-designed. Bhatt’s sari, designed by her longtime stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania, had a 23-foot train in observance of the theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and was adorned with genuine diamonds. Bhatt made her runway debut in Prabal Gurung couture at the 2023 Met Gala. The theme of the event was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” and she dressed accordingly, donning a white gown that was adorned with more than a million pearls. Indian artisans worked on the elaborate embroidery on her robe.

  1. Ambika Mod

At the Met Gala, Ambika Mod, who plays the actress of One Day, made her red carpet debut wearing a monochrome Loewe gown in black and white.

  1. Sudha Reddy

The Indian millionaire from Hyderabad attended the Met Gala wearing a special ivory silk dress by Tarun Tahiliani, and her personal diamond collection added even more glitter. While celebrities frequently turn to venerable jewellery stores to obtain their carats and appropriate some of their symbols, Reddy’s Amore Eterno necklace was a formidable competitor. A staggering 180 carats in total weight from a 25-solitaire necklace and two roughly 25-carat diamond rings are sure to make an impact. This is Reddy’s second time attending the event; the first time was in 2021, and the businesswoman wore an opulent Falguni Shane Peacock gown.

  1. Mindy Kaling

This year, Mindy Kaling, an actress and producer, attended the Met Gala donning a sculpted nude couture gown by Gaurav Gupta, complete with a majestic, structured cloak that terminated in a train and began above her shoulders. Kaling honoured the late Karl Lagerfeld, to whom the annual event was dedicated, with a pearly white Simkhai couture corseted dress at her prior appearance at the 2023 Met Gala.

  1. Simon Ashley

The May/June 2024 cover star of Vogue India walked the Met Gala red carpet wearing a navy blue dress with cutouts by Prabal Gurung. The Bridgerton actor previously wore a high-waisted black bias-cut skirt from Moschino, a gold embroidered bustier top, and a dramatic black satin opera coat.
