 Music was something that was always in her blood

 She was born on March 28, 1955 and was raised in Oklahoma with her three siblings on a Ranch. Reba came from a family that was deeply into the country’s traditions. Both her grandfather and father achieved great success in the world of steer roping and hence there were some family connections to the rodeo.

Her mother also had great aspirations to become a country singer but instead she became a public school teacher, librarian and secretary. All the siblings shared a passion for singing and was nurtured by it during the car trips to their father’s rodeo events. Her early performances include singing and winning awards in school performances. She also developed as a barrel racer when she learned these skills in rodeo events.

 After graduating from Kiowa High School in 1973, she got into South-eastern Oklahoma State University as a minor in music. Her father finally motivated her to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City and that caught the attention of country artist Red Steagall and Red was so impressed by her singing that he recommended her to Mercury records. Her actual journey began when her tape got attention from Glenn Keener and she began her professional journey in country music.

Despites all the ups and downs her breakthrough in her career was when her album “My Kind of Country” launched in 1984. She continued to achieve success with her albums like “Whoever’s in New England” and “For My Broken Heart”. But life isn’t always fair. A tragedy struck when eight members of her band lost their lives in a plane crash in 1991. McEntire was not going to stop and she continued releasing successful albums like “Room to Breathe”, “Reba: Duets” and “Stronger than the Truth” and till now her music journey hasn’t come to an end in 202 she signed a new record deal with the MCA Nashville.

She initiated Malibu Country which is a series about a divorced mother in 2011 restarting her music career as well but later it was canceled in 2013. She was a judge in America ‘Got talent. Later on, Reba launched a podcast Living & Learning in 2020.

 Her latest work includes starring in The Hammer and as a coach on The Voice in season 24. When she reunited with Sofie Dossi On America’s Got Talent in 2023, they also performed together with McEntire’s Singing with Dossi’s contortion and aerial acts.
