PATNA: Shambhavi Choudhary, a 25-year-old Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) candidate from Samastipur, is poised to make history by becoming the youngest Dalit woman MP in Lok Sabha.

She trounced her nearest challenger, Congress’ Sunny Hazari, the son of prominent JD(U) minister Maheshwar Hazari, by almost 1.87 lakh votes.

Shambhavi, the daughter of prominent JD(U) minister Ashok Choudhary and a close aide to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, was the youngest woman candidate in the Lok Sabha election from this reserved seat in the state.

Acharya Kishore Kunal, a retired IPS officer and secretary of the Mahavir Mandir Trust in Patna, is her father-in-law. She is the current director of the Gyan Niketan School in the state capital. Shambhavi is now doing her PhD at Magadh University after finishing her PG from Delhi School of Economics. She had graduated from Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi.

While campaigning for her, Prime Minister Narendra Modi placed his hands on her head, showering her with blessings. During a rally in Darbhanga on May 4, the Prime Minister inquired about her educational qualifications. He wanted everyone to help her succeed.
