During a stakeholder consultation in New Delhi, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced considerable licence price cuts for women entrepreneurs and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The consultation, organised by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), sought to improve the effectiveness of the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO).

Goyal added that compliance in the petroleum and explosives industries must be balanced with public safety. He announced an 80% concession for women entrepreneurs and a 50% concession for MSMEs in licensing fees for PESO licences. This campaign is intended to increase the participation of women and small companies in various industries.

The Minister asked PESO to develop guidelines in collaboration with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) to create a template of safety measures. These standards will allow retail petrol pumps to operate in areas where there is habitation within 30-50 yards.

Goyal also revealed that QR codes for cylinders have been added into the draft Gas Cylinders Rules (GCR), with a final notice expected soon. He appointed a commission to investigate the possibility of extending the validity of explosives, transportation, and manufacturing permits to ten years.
