The Maharashtra government will formally introduce its flagship program, Majhi Ladki Bahin, which will offer ₹1,500 monthly to women.

On Saturday, August 17, the Maharashtra government will formally introduce and implement the “Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana,” which aims to give ₹1500 a month to over a crore women in the state.

Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde has promised that the program, modeled after the “Ladli Behna Yojana” in Madhya Pradesh, will not be short-lived and will continue forever.

The chief minister promised to safeguard women’s rights in the state by tying the program to the impending Raksha Bandhan celebration.

How to sign up

The Maharashtra government has introduced the Nari Shakti Dhoot app, which enables women who qualify for the initiative to register online with ease. Local government representatives like Gram Sevaks and Anganwadi staff are responsible for assisting women who are unable to apply online. The application process for the program is free of charge.

Qualifications

Women must meet the requirements to be considered permanent residents of the state of Maharashtra to be eligible for the scheme. Additionally, only women between the ages of 21 and 65 are eligible for the program. Furthermore, the program only applies to women whose family or household income is less than ₹2.5 lakh annually to support individuals who are financially challenged.

Aadhar cardholders should connect their bank accounts to their applications, officials have advised, to expedite the verification process and financial aid payment. Maharashtra banks have also been encouraged to assist in the procedure.

Advantages

Though it considers July to be its commencement month, the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led government’s flagship plan will officially launch on August 17. As part of an early trial run, more than 3 million women who qualify for the plan get ₹3,000 deposited into their bank accounts.

The state exchequer is expected to pay ₹46,000 crore a year for the financial support initiative, which would provide qualified women in the state ₹1,500 each month. “I only want to say that we will not only give them ₹1,500, we will make them independent, we will make them self-reliant,” Eknath Shinde added in a statement to the media on August 16. Through some government initiatives, we will give women more financial support in line with PM Narendra Modi’s goal of seeing them become more independent, self-sufficient, and valued members of society.”
