After arriving at a resort on the Zirakpur-Patiala route, the victim, Raj Kumar Sharma of Royal Empire, Peer Muchalla, Dhakoli, was threatened at knifepoint.

Around 11.30 p.m. on Friday, four robbers—among them a woman—took a 57-year-old man’s gold jewelry, cash, and cell phone in Zirakpur. After breaking the case in a matter of hours, the Zirakpur police detained three accused: Kiran, Vikas, and Ashish on Saturday. Kuldeep Singh, the fourth, is still at large.

The victim informed police, Raj Kumar Sharma of Royal Empire, Peer Muchalla, Dhakoli, that he had been to Zirakpur on business. When he arrived at Lucky Dhaba in the late hours of the night, a woman asked for a ride to a resort on the Zirakpur-Patiala route.

Given the time, he consented to assist the woman. However, as soon as they arrived at the resort, three guys riding motorcycles stopped and forced their way inside his vehicle. They took his phone, ₹12,000 in cash, a gold bangle, and a gold chain after threatening him with a knife. Before they left, they also had him deposit ₹20,000 to an account using Google Pay.

The victim called Zirakpur police and the police control center right away, and they inspected the CCTV cameras that were placed close to the crime scene. Three of the accused were  apprehended on Saturday by police using human intelligence, and the search is ongoing for the fourth.

At the Zirakpur police station, the suspects have been charged under Sections 307, 115 (2), 351 (3), and 3 (5) of the BNS.
