MUMBAI: On Tuesday night, the Tulinj police in Nalasopara detained a 30-year-old Nigerian lady in possession of MDMA, a drug valued at ₹2 crore. The woman has been recognized as Idaka Gift Joseph, a resident of New Delhi’s Chandravihar neighborhood.

The detecting officers had gotten reliable information on Tuesday, according to Shailendra Nagarkar, senior police inspector of Tulinj police station, that a Nigerian national was scheduled to arrive in Pragati Nagar, Nalasopara, with a significant amount of MD.

Joseph was detained after the authorities set up a trap. Upon examining her backpack, the police discovered that MD, who had come to give something to a customer, was worth ₹2 crore.

According to the police, Joseph admitted to them during questioning that she had been to India three years prior on a one-year medical visa to have treatment for her legs. Joseph concealed her passport and continued to reside in India without a visa after her visa expired. Joseph has been placed under arrest by the police for drug possession and trafficking by the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Senior Police Inspector Nagarkar stated, “We have taken Joseph’s cell phone and are attempting to locate the client to whom she was going to deliver the drugs.”
