Four Indian nationals, including Dharshini Vasudevan, perished in a multi-vehicle collision in Texas. The four were headed to Bentonville, Arkansas, and had gotten in touch via a carpooling app. 

New Delhi: An irate father had tagged External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar in a social media post before learning of the multi-level automobile collision that killed his daughter Dharshini Vasudevan. He said he couldn’t reach his daughter and asked the government for assistance finding her.

Mr. Vasudevan, of Chennai, stated in the post that his daughter had been residing in Frisco, Texas, for the last three years while she was in the US. He stated that she had finished her master’s degree a year ago and had been employed for the previous 12 months.

“Yesterday evening she took a carpooling along with 3 others from around 3 pm till 4 pm she was actively messaging and reachable on the phone after 4 pm no further contacts could be established with her as well as the other 3 people who were traveling with her,” he wrote in the post.

Since it was a long weekend, she made reservations in advance for the trip, which took her from Frisco to Bentonville, the home of her uncle. Our parents are really worried and it’s almost 12 hours since we don’t the status of our daughter. Please help,” the message added.

The four were traveling to Bentonville, Arkansas, and included Aryan Raghunath Orampati, Farooq Shaik, and Lokesh Palacharla. They had met using a carpooling app. Orampati and Shaik were returning to their Bentonville homes from Texas, while Dharshini was traveling to see her uncle. To meet his bride, Lokesh Palacharla was traveling to Bentonville. Through the carpooling app they had used, the authorities were able to identify them.

Reportedly, the victims’ SUV was rear-ended by a fast truck. Everyone inside the automobile perished from burns when the car caught fire. To verify the identities, the police are now depending on tooth and bone remnants as well as DNA fingerprinting. “DNA fingerprinting will be done to identify the bodies, and the samples will be matched with the parents,” a local authority stated.
