A GoFundMe page created by the family of a lady slain on Wednesday after a mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl championship parade has received $100,000 from Taylor Swift. The pop singer, who has a well-known relationship with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, was mentioned as one of the top donors on Lisa Lopez-Galvan’s fundraising page. Lisa Lopez-Galvan, 44, died in the gunfire that broke out as fans were celebrating the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory.
A note that said, “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss,” was sent with the donations. Love, Taylor Swift.
By the time Swift made her two $50,000 contributions, the campaign was nearly halfway toward its $75,000 target. The total as of early Saturday morning was $316,077. The website states that about 4,100 people have donated to Ms. Lopez-Galvan’s family via the fundraiser.
“This fund will help provide vital financial support to her family as they process this unthinkable tragedy,” the fundraiser website stated.
Over 20 individuals were shot and injured in the mass shooting, according to Fox 59. After the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade on Wednesday, a fight between multiple individuals resulted in a deadly gunshot, according to Kansas City police.
There was no connection to violent extremism or terrorism, according to preliminary investigative findings. The incident that resulted in gunshots seems to be a disagreement among multiple individuals, according to the Kansas City Missouri Police Department.
Additionally, according to the police, at least half of the other shooting victims are younger than 16 and their ages span from 8 to 47.
At first, three people were placed under arrest. Police found the third suspect wasn’t involved, but two of them—both minors—remain in detention, the site stated.
No charges have been brought as of yet. The minors will face charges if and when they are approved to face adult trials, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
Chief of Police for Kansas City, Missouri, Stacey Graves, commended the police, saying that their “response was exemplary”. “Those present also intervened, supported one another, and even physically detained a person who was thought to be connected to the incident. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who bravely assisted law enforcement yesterday. Your noble deed was not forgotten,” she remarked.
