Eaton, a century-old intelligent power management firm, plans to open a research and development unit in Tamil Nadu, demonstrating the company’s dedication to expanding its presence in the country.
The new facility, which will cover 1 lakh square feet, will be built in nearby Sholinganallur, Chengalpet district, and is slated to be finished by the end of 2026.
Chief Minister M K Stalin and Minister for Industries TRB Rajaa, who are now in the United States wooing investors to the state, inked a memorandum of understanding with Eaton executives.
Stalin announced on social media that the corporation would invest Rs 200 crore in Tamil Nadu to establish a Research and Development centre, which would create 500 new employment.
“Eaton has consistently invested in India’s talent and technology infrastructure, positioning the country as a critical hub for our global engineering and innovation efforts.” declared Eaton, Country Director for India. Philipose Jacob: Oil and Gas, B-Line, Crouse-Hinds.
“Our Crouse-Hinds and B-Line office in India has been at the forefront of developing sustainable and innovative power management solutions that address some of the world’s most pressing energy challenges for harsh and hazardous environments,” Jacob said in a corporate statement on Wednesday.
The Crouse-Hinds and B-Line plant in Tamil Nadu would focus on developing Eaton’s capabilities in digitisation, electrification, and energy transition, in line with the company’s overarching goals of promoting sustainability and innovation internationally.
On signing the MoU with Eaton, TRB Rajaa, Minister for Industries, stated, “The Government of Tamil Nadu is delighted to collaborate with Eaton on their expansion objectives. This project not only matches with our aim of converting the state into a centre of innovation and industrial growth, but it also demonstrates our dedication to the success of global leaders like Eaton in our region.”
Eaton’s expansion in the region would generate economic benefits, including job creation and the development of a highly qualified local workforce, he said.
“We are confident this partnership will work as a stimulus for further technological development and industrial growth in Tamil Nadu, reinforcing the state’s position as a leading destination for global investments,” the governor stated.
