Women's Helpline Scheme

The Women Helpline Scheme is a government effort that offers 24-hour emergency assistance to women who have been victims of abuse in public or private settings through a single toll-free number (181).

If a victim’s call is disconnected or interrupted while she is describing her problem, emergency responders will promptly identify and contact her by monitoring her address.

Beneficiaries:

Any woman or girl who is experiencing violence or is interested in learning more about different women-related projects or programmes.

Procedure for Applying:

Women facing violence in public or private spaces can seek immediate assistance or rescue via phone (calls, mobile apps, fax messages, SMS/text messaging, landlines) and internet (emails, social networking sites such as web pages, Facebook, Twitter, MyGov.in, and others, web-posts, and web-interface).
