Zomato has terminated the services of a delivery guy who exposed himself to a customer during a late-night order run. The Ahmedabad-based customer shared her incident on social media, which has since gone viral.
In her post, the woman claimed that the Zomato delivery partner displayed his genitals in front of her when she went to pick up her meal.
The woman, who declined to be identified for this story, stated that she purchased a coffee from Zomato at midnight on August 28. The delivery partner arrived “15-30 minutes late,” according to her Instagram Story.
At 12.48 a.m., she received a call from the Zomato delivery worker and proceeded to pick up her food. “The partner was apologising constantly about the delay while smiling, it felt uncomfortable but I let that slide because I felt I was paranoid due to everything going on in the country,” she tweeted.
The Zomato delivery executive repeatedly told the woman that he was wounded while pointing to his foot. Despite her discomfort, the Ahmedabad woman pointed her torch at the delivery driver’s foot, realising the entire event was a ruse to harass her.
“Out of instinct, I pointed my torch at his feet. “It was very stupid of me to be curious about that injury, but I pointed the torch and saw that his genitals were out of his pants and he was smiling like a creep,” she wrote.
The woman stated that her Zomato delivery partner smiled while pestering her and mockingly urged her, “Please help kardo (please help me),” exposing himself.
The woman promptly reported the event to Zomato and received a call from the firm shortly after. After being told that Zomato will listen to both sides of the issue and contact the delivery agent for his side, she was ordered to “wait till further notice.”
A few hours later, she received an update that the delivery executive’s services had been terminated and his licence had been revoked.
“Zomato interacted with me, and I also contacted legal authorities. “The delivery guy has been fired and his licence has been revoked,” the woman stated in her update. “I won’t say I feel comfortable today; I still feel unsafe, but they did everything they could. I am still paranoid, because what if he returns to the address? But now I have legal backing,” she continued.
