After declining a marriage proposal, a 17-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh was abducted, sexually assaulted, and had an iron rod placed across her face. Aman, the defendant, has been detained and charged.
A 17-year-old girl was allegedly held captive and subjected to several sexual assaults over the course of three days by a man after she turned down his proposal of marriage, in a disturbing event. The girl’s mother filed a complaint with the Dhaurahra police in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, on April 21, which led to the event being reported.
The culprit, known as Aman, was detained and sent to a prison in Lakhimpur Kheri on Saturday, according to the police.
On April 19, the accused, Aman, abducted the victim while she was on her way home. Surprisingly, the accused is also accused of branding his name and burning her face with a hot iron rod.
“While his mother and sister were holding me, the accused used a rod to burn my face and scrawled his name on it. I continued yelling, but nobody rushed to our rescue,” the victim was quoted as saying by India Today.
“The man is employed in a Hyderabadi salon. His desire was to wed the girl. He inscribed his name on both of her cheeks when she refused, according to TOI, quoting Dinesh Singh as SHO (Dhaurahra).
But on April 21, the girl found a way out of captivity and made her way back home. The family members filed a complaint as a result.
Police stated that more investigation is being done in this instance.
The accused was first charged under a number of laws, one of which being 504 (intentional insult). However, once the survivor’s account was recorded in front of a court, portions about rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) were added.
