A lady CISF employee who was conducting security checks in Terminal 1 of the Pre-Embarkation Security Area was attacked by a Zimbabwean national, who was taken into custody on Wednesday. The CISF has filed a FIR against him at the Airport police station.
The FIR states that Rukudzo Chirikumarara, a foreign national, arrived at his Bengaluru to Delhi flight about 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13. Wednesday at 4.30 am was the scheduled departure time for the flight.
“The woman officer was carrying out scanning at one of the XBIS Machine (C-1) scanners,” a top CISF source revealed. She informed him that he would need to go one story below to get his bag scanned since it was too large to fit through the scanner.
The flyer became agitated and struck the woman. He then left the scanning area, grabbed his luggage with him, and proceeded to the Security Hold Area, where flyers are held following security checks. Other security officers apprehended him and brought him to the police station.
In accordance with the FIR, Chirikumarara was accused of assaulting the female officer in violation of Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from fulfilment of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code by CISF Inspector Narendra Singh.
