Mandi, Himachal Pradesh: During a campaign rally on Saturday, Bollywood actress turned politician Kangana Ranaut, who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and is running from Mandi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, unleashed a vicious attack on the state’s ruling Congress party. Ranaut charged that the Congress had lured the people in with “false” promises and was “looting” them.
The actress, 37, who is well-known for her provocative words and outspoken demeanor, entered politics last month when she was selected as the BJP candidate from Mandi, a district that is strongly supported by the Congress. Ranaut is a native of Bhambla, a little town in the Mandi district, and the BJP is trying to use her celebrity and local ties to unseat the Congress from the seat.
“Congress Entices People with False Promises”
Ranaut questioned the Congress party’s record and said that they were misleading the public when speaking to a group of supporters in Mandi. “What else is Congress doing here, besides looting?” I would want to ask them if they would be willing to offer all of the mothers and sisters here Rs 1,500 today. And what became of the money? They promised to offer five lakh employment openings. Those jobs, where are they? Why do they entice individuals with false promises? “How long will these politics continue?” said the woman.
Ranaut advised the people of Himachal Pradesh to back Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “New India” and to be skeptical of the promises made by the Congress party. “We need to protect the Himachal people from the false promises made by Congress and help them wake up.” Avoid falling for these deceptive claims. The concept of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “New Bharat” must be implemented gradually, she stated.
Congressman Digvijay Singh’s remarks about Katchatheevu Island are criticized by Ranaut.
Ranaut also criticized senior Congressman Digvijay Singh earlier this week for his comments that cast doubt on the significance of Katchatheevu Island, a disputed area that lies between Sri Lanka and India. Had Singh asked, “Is there anyone living there? This is really absurd. PM Modi speaks inanely. In response to Singh’s remarks, Ranaut stated that individuals will respond appropriately to groups that have such views. She asserted that under Congress’s control, progress was not possible in rural parts of the nation because of this way of thinking.
Ranaut denounces remarks while defending BJP MP Hema Malini
Ranaut has publicly defended BJP Member of Parliament and seasoned actress Hema Malini, who was lately the focus of sexist and abusive accusations made by Congressman Randeep Surjewala. Ranaut called such remarks intolerable and commended Hema Malini for her lifelong commitment to the arts.”I denounce the Congress leader’s misogynistic and sexist remarks directed towards Hema ji.” She has devoted her life to the arts and has become a great icon. In our culture, remarks like this have no place, according to Ranaut.
Ranaut’s Future Initiatives
In addition to her political campaign, Ranaut is getting ready for the premiere of “Emergency,” her first feature film directed by herself. Ranaut plays the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film, which is based on the 1975–1977 emergency declared by the former PM.
