Theme for International Women’s Day 2024

The goal of this year’s theme, “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” according to the UN, is to address economic disempowerment. ‘Inspire Inclusion’ is the campaign theme for the same year.

The significance of diversity and empowerment in all spheres of society is underscored by this campaign. The campaign’s theme also emphasises how important inclusion is to attaining gender equality.

The background and importance of International Women’s Day in 2024

The Socialist Party of America issued a statement after the United Nations celebrated the first National Women’s Day on February 28, 1909.

Clara Zetkin suggested creating an annual Women’s Day in 1910 at the International Conference for Working Women in Copenhagen as a way to promote women’s rights and the ability to vote. All of the countries agreed, and as a result, Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland celebrated the first International Women’s Day in 1911.

The importance of International Women’s Day for women’s rights and gender equality cannot be overstated. This day provides a forum for promoting women’s rights in a variety of fields, such as social, economic, cultural, and political accomplishments.
