In the Indore district of Madhya Pradesh, four women were taken into custody on Wednesday after they allegedly assaulted, stripped, and paraded a thirty-year-old lady following a fight in a village. Social media users have started to share a video of the alleged event that happened during the Holi celebrations.
Superintendent of Police (Rural), Sunil Mehta, stated that on Monday at Bachhora village, Gautampura police station area, “four women forcibly pulled the victim out of her house, beat her up and humiliated her by stripping her naked in public.”
He said that the four suspected women were eventually taken into custody.
The victim, who belonged to the Scheduled Caste (SC) group, was traumatised and went to her parents’ house for safety. One of the defendants believed the victim was stirring up her mother-in-law’s animosity toward her. According to the police officer, she also suspected that the victim had transported her mother-in-law to Mandsaur without telling her.
According to eyewitnesses, the accused women stripped and pulled the woman from her home. According to the allegations, the accused did not back down despite the victim woman’s repeated pleas for mercy, and they even tore her clothes off in public. In the same state, they drove her a short way on the village’s common road.
The people who recorded the incident will likewise be held legally accountable, SP Mehta promised. The Indian Penal Code (IPC) provisions 323 (voluntarily inflicting pain), 354-A (sexual harassment), and 452 (wrongfully restraining and assaulting) have all been the subject of a case, according to a police officer.
