Thane: According to a police official on Monday, a guy who was addicted to internet gambling was detained in Bhiwandi, Thane district. He is accused of killing a 74-year-old woman, taking her gold jewels, and then setting the home on fire to erase any evidence. According to the official, a probe revealed that Gupta was hooked to online gambling and had lost over ₹ 2 lakh as a result, which is why he plotted the heist at Nadar’s house. “Gupta knew the family and other circumstances because he worked in the dairy owned by the victim’s son. “He has been placed under arrest by the police until August 28,” the spokesman said.
